A very busy first week on the air! We launched several new shows including “Optimists on The Tornado,” “Kindness Radio,” and “Tornado Topics.” “Optimists on The Tornado” is produced in association with the Noon Optimist Club of Galveston. “Kindness Radio” is produced in conjunction with The Galveston Kindness Project and Erin Toberman. And, “Tornado Topics” is a “hot topics” show featuring a roundtable discussion with four of the station’s hosts.

The school’s baseball coaches will also soon launch their own show. Players will be encouraged to get involved and will be invited to create several new shows on The Tornado!

Excited about the launch party that is being planned for 2/3, sponsored by Nate and Lauren Stockard from My Bay Area Radio. Invitations will go out soon! Also, a big shout out to Jennifer Douglas from the district’s Child Nutrition department and parent Jenifer Burlison! More details to follow soon!

We worked through several nagging technical issues behind the scenes. The district’s MIS department led by John Mathis deployed his team to assist us. A big shout out to our campus tech Kevin Anthony! Thank you MIS for providing solutions and contributing to the initial great sound of the station!

Super excited that Carter and Alex hosted a LIVE remote last Thursday night at the Lemonade Day kickoff event. With Nate Stockard’s assistance and expertise, the boys’ weekly show was broadcast LIVE both on The Tornado and My Bay Area Radio. Carter and Alex did a wonderful job!

The team and I are working on a surprise that will be announced tomorrow (Monday) night. I don’t want to reveal too much at this point, but I can say the results will be a unique addition to our team and this whole platform and opportunity will continue to grow and be the model for others to follow!

Stay tuned!
